WORKSHOP Integrated Performance Instruction and Assessment (IPIA) Why & How? By Hong Laoshi, Chunman Gissing
The ultimate goal of language teaching is helping learners to be able to communicate effectively in real life. Communication manifests in the modes of interpretive, interpersonal and presentational. Integrating the 3 modes of communication in our instruction best prepares our learners to communicate competently. Participants in this workshop will experience and examine an integrated lesson, use a tried and tested template to create rough IPIA lesson plans including assessment measures. It is the hope of the presenter to have participants start creating a pool of lesson outlines for beginning, intermediate or advanced learners that all can keep for reference and future use.
